Fish 'n Chips

Today is Olive Vaile's birthday day.

She is my great-grandmother. She would have been 105 years old today. She passed away in 2006.

My grandmother Aline (Olive's daughter) made me a cookbook a few Christmas' ago. It includes recipes from my German Great-Grandma Anita Kelm, Olive who was originally from England, and Canadian additions from Aline.

My grandma mentioned on facebook that she was going to make fish and chips in honor of Olive today, so I decided to do the same. Luckily the recipe is in that cookbook. After work I bought some cod. I've never made this recipe before. I didn't really want to have fried fish and french fries, so I put an American twist on my meal (roasted potatoes). Apparently the English also eat peas with fish 'n chips. I didn't have peas, but I did have snap peas! In honor of my great-grandma, an admirable woman who left England in the 1920's to find herself a cowboy, here is my meal tonight. I can't wait to see her again one day in the great adventure we call heaven.
