Fruits and Veggies
Emily and I decided last week we wanted to kick start eating more fruits and veggies. We had been feeling kind of blah about our eating habits. We decided to go 72 hours eating nothing else but fruits and veggies. I however did add in a few handfuls of nuts and 1 egg for protein after workouts, and in a few spoonfuls of yogurt into a smoothie. Other than that I ate news kinds of lettuce, spinach, avocado, acorn squash, yellow squash, zucchini, broccoli, cauliflower, red bell pepper, mushrooms, eggplant, strawberries, apples, an asian pear, mangos, pineapple, kiwi, raspberries, and clementines. I ate several times a day, and I have to say, I was truly hungry...a lot. And my energy level was actually down. I had to cut my workouts. Last night I never wanted grains and meat so bad in my life!
The smoothies were good, and the stir fry I made was delicious, but Emily said it best on her facebook:
"Oh this diet makes you appreciate foods SO much more. I'm going to try and eat fruits and veggies still for breakfast and i'll include them in my lunches.. but my dinners will be beautiful creations of carbs and meats."
For me that was the whole point of this! To make my meals more well rounded.
Now I am off to eat breakfast...

Well, goodness! Thanks for your compliment on my blog; that was so nice!
We can definitely be better friends once the next two weeks are over -- I have tons of stuff I have to finish during that time. :/ But after that, friends it is. :)
Wow. Fruits and veggies definitely have their place but I could not eat them alone all the time. I love me some carbs! Mmm! Way to go for trying that out, though. I am impressed!
